IOL.im operates in compliance with both the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, as incorporated into the Data Protection Act 2018.

IOL.im is a social network for adults. The services available on the site offer to members the opportunity of joining an international community and interact with other users easily and safely. IOL.im access and its services are permitted to users aged 18 or over only (the minimum registration age is subject to change if the user is resident in a country where the age of majority is reached after 18 years).

To be registered, the user is required to fill out a short online registration form, indicating a Nickname, e-mail address (we strongly advise you to create an ad hoc email in order to be completely anonymous), gender identity, date of birth, and city. Additionally, the user may enter other personal details at her preference. The user has full control among her Profile and data enclosed therein, which may be consulted, modified and updated at any time at any time (with the exception of Gender Identity and Nickname) from the "Manage Profile" section, by logging in to IOL.im. It is possible to change Gender Identity and / or your Nickname by contacting Customer Service.

Maximum caution in disclosing personal Profile data is highly advised. To find out more, consult the IOL.im. Regulations and Online Safety Tips. We also encourage users not to disclose e-mail addresses, URLs, instant messaging contacts, phone numbers, full name or address, bank details, identity document numbers, driver's license data or other sensitive Profile information to avoid any abuse or improper use. Please note: photos and videos published on IOL.im may accidentally reflect such personal data. Where the user uploads and discloses his or his/her sensitive data (thus making them in the public domain), he expressly authorizes us to process these pieces of information.

To ensure maximum security and deliver the best user experience, we require users to verify their account (we want to be sure that they are not robots!). We may also ask to enter a phone number. Yet, there is nothing to worry about! This will only be used by our staff to ensure that the account is made by a real user! We also want to prevent fake accounts from being created that can be used for malicious or cyber-crime activities, ruining the overall IOL.im experience.

If the user has chosen to purchase a premium service, we will process the billing information: nickname, email, type of subscription, and payment amount, to allow us to redact the contract with the user and fulfill tax obligations. Please note: although IOL.im does not keep any credit card data, the companies accountable for managing the payment services that IOL.im adopt, have the right to do so, as established by the regulatory bodies in charge. The storage of such data on our part is justified by our legitimate interests, as outlined above.

In the event that the user has not logged in for a period of 12 months, the Profile and all the Contents entered will be deleted. If the user decides to delete the profile using the "edit my profile" function, the effect will be immediate, and all data connected to the user will be permanently deleted. If the cancellation request reaches us by e-mail, we will do our best to do it as soon as possible.

When blocking a Profile or in the case another member blocks the user, it is lost the ability to view each other's Profiles and the sending of new messages. In addition, the conversations between the accounts as well as any photos or videos sent or received in the chat are permanently deleted.

All email exchanges with IOL.im Customer Service will be stored for 2 years after the deletion of the Profile, to allow post-deletion assistance, and will then be permanently deleted.

IOL.im records only connection logs (date, time and IP address) for security, anti-fraud and anti-spam purposes. These logs are stored for a maximum of 90 days, after which they are permanently deleted. This retention policy complies with the principles of data minimisation and storage limitation under both the EU GDPR and the UK GDPR.

If you purchase a subscription, the only personal data included in our invoices is your email address. For legal and tax purposes, we must retain this data for the period established by applicable tax law (currently 6 years in the United Kingdom), regardless of the deletion of your profile. After this period, the data will be permanently deleted.

IOL.im will never collect data on minors voluntarily. Access is indeed highly forbidden to those who have not yet turned 18 years old. In the event that the staff become aware of a Profile created by a minor, the Profile will be immediately deleted together with all the data present on IOL.im concerning the user. In the event that a minor has created an account in clear violation of this clause, IOL.im reserves the right to keep the e-mail and IP address to avoid future infractions as the creation of new Profiles.

The user can choose to invite friends and contacts on IOL.im to allow them to use the service. If a user wishes to invite their friends and contacts to join IOL.im, we will send them an invitation email on the user behalf. If the invited contacts do not sign up within a few days, IOL.im reserves the possibility to send them a reminder on behalf of the user, as an e-mail. We remind all users that it is not possible to invite minors to register on the site. The user must be sure that they have the authorization of their friends to receive an invitation from IOL.im.

When inviting your friends, IOL.im retains their name, e-mail address. IOL.im will not sell these e-mail addresses to third parties and will not use them for purposes other than those for e-mail invitations. The person who received the invitation can write to IOL.im on the Contacts page to request the deletion of their data from our database. Only the e-mail addresses in our possession at the time of the request can be deleted.

IOL.im doesn’t share any data with third parties.

IOL.im aims to ensure that the community continues to be a pleasant as well as safe meeting environment, collaborating with the competent authorities to enforce intellectual property rights or any other rights. IOL.im could also share with the services responsible of laws enforcing, as required by law, if we believe, in our total discretion, that it is necessary to share these data to protect the rights of IOL.im, the rights of third parties and / or to comply with the requests of courts or tribunals or in the case of various types of legal proceedings.

As part of the laws dictated by the United Kingdom and the EU, the user has the right to address any complaint to the authorities responsible for data protection. IOL.im has its main offices in the United Kingdom and has designated the Information Commissioner Office (ICO) as its main regulator. If the user is in the EEA, it is also possible to contact the local Data Protection Regulator, which can act as an intermediary with the ICO.

As an EU citizen these are the rights dictated by the General Data Protection Regulation law:

Any correspondence will be stored in our archives, including reports that users may send us regarding other subscribers (and vice versa) for 6 years after the deletion of a Profile.

IOL.im collects information by sending cookies to user's computers or mobile devices. Cookies are pieces of information sent and stored on user's computers or mobile devices by the browser in use.
